Hello everybody and welcome to the Outback Campground and Resort! We are so thankful to God for His providences in bringing everything together for this campground. In the spring of 2007, Outback was just a dream—Luke's vision.  The campground had been abandoned for about twelve years, so you might be able to imagine the mess.  It was a huge undertaking to clear the brush and completely restore all of the buildings.  However, Luke was determined to see this place bloom so he began the great endeavor.  By God’s Grace, we persevered, and the Outback was born and created.   By July of 2007, it was a beautiful place filled with wonderful campers.  It was a lot of work, but to see all of the smiling faces and the laughing children made it well worth it.

The camping season for 2008 was exciting! Ragbrai, Storm Seymore, Major Day, Karate Demonstration, UNI Cheerleader Performance,  Tulip the Clown, Fourth of July Parade, Bounce House, and Hay Rides during Fall Fest were some of the special events that occurred at the Outback this summer. There were activities/crafts for children, and entertainment for the whole family each Saturday. I am so thankful for my campground hosts—the Borsch’s. They are such a huge part of the Outback! We want the Outback to be a place where you and your family can pursue happiness!

Outback continued to grow bringing another set of wonderful camp hosts, Bill and Carol.  During the summer of 2009 we expanded by adding 56 more 50/30 amp, full hook-up sites for seasonal or weekend campers.  The group loop was added; a private group camping section for 8 campers.  The Outback Laundry room was built near the office and to top it off a second cabin (The Wallaby) complete with water and electric is found nestled among the sites.  Children were thrilled on major weekend to play in the big bounce house containing two large slides, 2 rock climbing walls, jello squares and more.  Due to popular demand we continued with Saturday crafts, bean bag/ volleyball tournaments on major holidays, and weekend  D.J. or live music

Starting the season of 2010, Outback welcomed Luke's new wife, Brenda.  The team continues to grow as Ray and Linda joined in bringing us their expertise with ordinary maintenance needs.  Over the winter the Outback moved in another lodge and is working on building additional bathhouses, this project is currently in construction.  The landscaping around the trees and buildings has added a touch of beauty to the grounds.  Concrete pads were poured for 10 sites in the B section and a sidewalk was poured from the pool to the office area.  Things keep growing and changing here at the Outback, but our favorite change is seeing you, the campers.  It's been fun reuniting with campers from previous years and meeting people from all over!

Malachi, the new CEO was born to Luke and Brenda in the spring of 2011.
Your stay at Outback Campground & Resort is important to us.  We gladly welcome you and will go out of our way to make your stay enjoyable. We look forward to meeting or reuniting with you and your family soon. Outback Campground and Resort is a place to pursue happiness!!  Thank you for checking us out!
